Public Kitchen in Pengadegan Still Serves Food for Flood Victims

Pengadegan Urban Village, Pancoran, South Jakarta has prepared public kitchen to anticipate if flood happens again. This kitchen can produce 700-800 portion of meals for flood victims.

We can serve 700-800 portions for one meal

"We can serve 700-800 portions for one meal. But we always received assistance from Social Department as many as 2,000 portions, thus in a day, we can serve 3,600 portions in total," explained Nikmah Sadik Abdul Kadir, Pengadegan Urban Village's Community Welfare Section Head, Wednesday (1/8).

In order to cook the food, he continued, there are Dasawisma cadres, Jumantik cadres, Posyandu cadres, and some local residents who helped in the public kitchen.

"We have divided our tasks every day. There are 8 people who work in public kitchen because we take care 8 RWs, so each RWs send coordinators to distribute the foods," he conveyed.

Until now, public kitchen in Pengadegan Urban Village continues to serve foods for residents who can't do their normal activities. Food stock is also sufficient for now.

"For food stock, we have many donors who distribute rice, instant noodles, sausages, sardines, and eggs. We just add vegetables for the side dish," he closed.
